How can we cover all the great things there are to do and see on the Gold Coast??!

Firstly, by staying at the very unique Villa Garfield, instead of an impersonal highrise apartment,  you have the advantage of being in a central location, close to all the buzz of cosmopolitan Surfers Paradise, and still enjoy being on a traditional Australian beachside holiday.

Surfers Paradise became a coastal getaway for hardworking Brisbanites from the 1920s when the original Surfers Paradise Hotel was built. As tourism increased and as ownership of motor cars became common, people could escape the city to their beach houses on weekends. During the 1950-60s as the surfing culture grew, so did the coastal village of Surfers Paradise, with people attracted by the long stretches of beaches and world class surfing breaks. During the 1970s luxury resorts, highrise apartment blocks, and the canal developments such as Isle of Capri and Chevron Island dotted the coastal fringe, with Surfers Paradise becoming a mecca for our "migrants" from the southern states.

Being only a 30 minute drive to the theme parks of Dream World, Movie World, Wet n Wild, 10 minute drive to Seaworld Surfers Paradise is perfectly located for families of ALL ages.  Teenagers can wander safely up to the local Maccas or Icecreamery on Cavill Avenue, check out the high tech Infinity maze, be exhilarated at iFly, the indoor skydive venue and the Adrenalin Park, while being less than a 15 minute walk from their base at Villa Garfield.

Interested in the Magic Millions and horse racing??  The world class Gold Coast Turf Club at Bundall is less than 10 minutes away, so bring your hat (or fascinator!) and racing guide for a great day out.

Too hot for the beach? The surf too munchy?   A 50 minute drive to Mt Tamborine to sample some local fine wines and locally produced goods and delicacies, or experience the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk might be the answer to soothe the soul of the inner-greenie and see an alternate side of the dazzling Gold Coast.

Want to see how the other half live??   A leisurely sunset river cruise is an ideal way to let your jaw drop at the extravagance of the canal-front mansions and cruisers moored beside them, whilst enjoying a champagne or seafood buffet.

During the winter months, whales can be seen just off shore on their annual migration north.  If you want a closer look at these magnificent mammals, whale-watching tours are also available.

For shopping on the grand scale (malls!), explore Robina Town Centre and the very impressive, recently renovated Pacific Fair - with cinemas, outdoor cafes, department stores and shops galore.   For the shopper looking for a unique local experience, away from the tourist crowds of Cavill Avenue, you must check out the Chevron Island and Tedder Avenue specialty boutiques. Shopping spectators (AKA husbands/boyfriends/kids!) can enjoy a coffee (or other refreshing drink!) or meal, al fresco while waiting.

Last but not least, nothing can beat sitting on the balcony at the Northcliffe Surf Club, less than a 30 second walk from Villa Garfield, sipping on a nice cold beer or glass of something cold (or hot!) people-watching, or looking out for whales, and enjoying the company of friends and family.....

So come visit Villa Garfield and enjoy the very best on offer .... we welcome you!
